CANCELED - Crafting with the Guild: Enamel Floral Pendant Workshop with Ilene Kay
A great introduction to enameling where students will learn the steps to prepare copper for enameling and sifting techniques to create wonderful colors on metal. Sgraffito techniques will be utilized for this project. This is a beginner class, where each person will leave with a finished piece of jewelry.

Making a Turkey Wing Broom * canceled
Participants in this session will learn how to make a turkey wing broom. Cull processed hurl, separate the hurl into nine sections, tie sequentially into the shape of a wing, and fasten the handle using broom corn stalks.
Beautiful Needle Felted Landscapes *canceled
Attendees will learn to needle felt a beautiful landscape using dyed wool roving. Using only barbed needles, students learn to turn a pile of fluff into a memorable scene of our amazing mountains. No experience needed and all are welcome. Kits will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring photos of their favorite mountain scene to use as inspiration. A complete instruction booklet and resource list is also included.
Thread Therapy: Exploring Fabric Collage, Hand Quilting & Slow Stitch
In this one-day workshop, we will explore the art of slow stitch and embroidery in the creation and making of a work of fabric collage. Elements of embroidery, hand quilting, and slow-stitch methods will be demonstrated and will culminate in each participant having the tools, materials, and process knowledge to craft a work of fabric collage and to continue this craft as a personal creative pursuit.

Crafting with the Guild: Sinuous Silver Bracelet
Students will learn the “drape and hammer” technique of bonding wire in a fluid style to create a bracelet with a built-in clasp. This technique is adaptable to many other types of wire-work. No experience necessary. All tools will be provided to make one bracelet.

Crafting with the Southern Highland Craft Guild | Shibori Silk Scarves
Shibori is the sophisticated Japanese ancestor of tie-dyeing, and students will shibori-dye three pre-hemmed silk scarves to take, wear, and enjoy. We will use simple techniques of clamping, tying, stitching, and wrapping resists on the scarves, then immerse them in vibrant dye baths to layer rich colors and gorgeous patterns. (materials fee includes 3 silk scarves).
Crafting with the Southern Highland Craft Guild | Cherokee Wheels basket
Join Susan B. Taylor & John Roller in this three hour workshop as we weave a small open basket on a lathe-turned, cherry base. Using several sizes of reed, students will learn to twine, triple-twine, weave individual rows, and to set up a space for embellishing with “Cherokee Wheels”. The basket will be finished with a sturdy, lashed rim, with a filler. This basket is useful in every room in the house, and is created to last a lifetime! All materials for one basket are included.
