ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

sumi bird.jpeg

Join us to celebrate the 2021 Tokyo Olympics by learning Sumi-e, the art of Japanese ink painting. Using a minimum of strokes you will create lively and spontaneous paintings of trees, mountains, birds and flowers. We will honor Japan, the host country of the Olympics by painting the chrysanthemum, the royal flower of Japan.

Zen Buddhist monks introduced the Northern Sung style of painting to Japan during the 14th century. During the 15th century, they brought the newer Southern style which represents Sumi-e as we know it today.

Supplies are included. Bring a packed lunch, as we will have a short lunch break.

About the Instructor:

The class is being taught by Sue Wilders, recently retired after 17 years as artist in residence of the Morikami Japanese Museum in Delray Beach Florida.

PLEASE NOTE: Limited seating available. An 80% refund will be issued if the participant cancels three weeks prior to the event. For cancellations made less than three weeks prior to the event, BRAHM will issue a refund IF the museum is able to fill the vacated spot.
