This exhibition goes back five years ago! "The Sculptor's Voice" was guest curated by our friend and local sculptor, Bill Brown Jr. Did you get a chance to see it? Bill invited several artists from across the southeast to participate in this exhibition who explore sculpture in different ways.
"Throughout time, sculpture has been created through many different materials and processes, with broad approaches to the genre," said Bill Brown, guest curator. "The five sculptors I chose for this exhibition--John Acorn, Rick Beck, Tinka Jordy, Hanna Jubran, and Corrina Sephora Mensoff-- were selected for their diversity, exploration of materials, and master of process. Most importantly, the artists were selected for the individual strength of each sculptor's voice."
"A common thread among the sculptors exhibited is that at least one work from each artist represents the human form. With inclusion of the human form, ranging from abstract to more classical, I selected these works because they are approachable and encourage exploration and openness to contemporary sculpture as a whole, as well as the individual voices of these sculptors."
